December Uprising

Thousands of people from Mashhad, Neyshabur, Yazd, and ... took to the streets chanting ``Death to the dictator``, ``Death to Rouhani`` on December 28, 2017. Police attempted to disperse the demonstrators by throwing tear gas. However, the uprising spread to more than 140 cities in a very short period.

Suppression

On December 29, the people of Kermanshah, Qom, Isfahan and other cities staged demonstrations. On December 30, students at the University of Tehran by chanting ``Reformist, Principled, the story is over`` announced the end of both factions of the regime. By direct firing at the demonstrators and massive arrest of 8000 people so far, the regime responded to the peaceful protests of people.

Massive arrests

The arrestees have gone under brutal tortures; there is no information on whereabouts of a number of them. The names of 12 protesters who were arrested and then martyred under torture in prison are made public.

I condemn all the violence that the Iranian authorities have committed in recent days against civilians expressing dissatisfaction with the regime.
